Leaky Dishwashers Class Action Lawsuit

Press Release regarding this class action is available here - https://finance.yahoo.com/news/whirlpool-dishwasher-class-action-154700345.html

On November 16, 2023 a class action was commenced in Toronto against Whirlpool to recover compensation for its (allegedly) defective Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool dishwashers for model years 2013 to 2023 and ongoing.

The dishwashers are sold to consumers by Home Depot, other national retailers, and appliance stores. The claim alleges that over time a part called a “diverter shaft seal” fails. The part is responsible for diverting water from leaking out of the dishwasher during the wash cycle. Once the part fails water leaks out and pools on the floor every time the appliance is used. Consumers can no longer use the dishwasher unless it is repaired. Consumers are required to pay for a costly service call and repair which can exceed the market value of the appliance or instead are required to replace the dishwasher long before its normal operating life expectancy.
